A man walking on a sidewalk in Elmont was struck by a car and rushed to a hospital with a brain injury Friday evening, Nassau County police said.

The 67-year-old pedestrian, whose name wasn't immediately released, sustained trauma to the head and was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police responded to the accident scene on Dutch Broadway near Astor Street at 6 p.m. after a 59-year-old unidentified woman who was driving east lost control of her 2012 Lexus and hit the victim, authorities said.

A vehicle safety test was performed on the car and there was no apparent criminality involved, police said. The investigation is continuing.
