Pedestrian seriously hurt in Valley Stream

A pedestrian was struck by a car and seriously injured Wednesday night crossing Rockaway Parkway in Valley Stream, police said.

The pedestrian, whose identity has not been released, was airlifted to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow after the accident, which occurred about 9 p.m. near East Dover Street.

The driver, who remained at the scene, has not been charged, police said.

The car has been impounded for a safety check.
