A Rockville Centre man walking across Sunrise Highway in Baldwin Saturday night was struck and killed by a sport utility vehicle, Nassau County police said Sunday.

Police identified the victim as Jhanny Infante, 28.

According to detectives, Infante was crossing Sunrise Highway from south to north at Central Avenue at about 9:45 p.m. when he was struck by a 2016 Nissan Rogue traveling east on Sunrise Highway.

Police said Infante was pronounced dead at the scene by a Nassau County police medic.

The vehicle was impounded for brake and safety checks.

Police said the crash was “noncriminal” in nature but that the investigation is continuing.
