A Hempstead man died Saturday afternoon, a day after he was struck crossing the street Friday night in Hempstead, police said.

Troy Pittman was crossing Henry Street when he was hit by a 2007 Ford Edge, police said in a news release. The 55-year-old male driver of the Ford and his passenger was not injured, police said.

Pittman suffered a head injury and was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. He was pronounced dead from his injuries Saturday at 4:36 p.m.

No criminality is suspected in the crash, police said, adding the Ford’s brakes were tested at the scene.
