Nassau police said a motorist was killed in Woodmere early Friday when the vehicle he was driving collided with another one and struck a tree.
The victim, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 6:55 a.m. crash near the intersection of Peninsula Boulevard and Lafayette Drive, Fourth Squad detectives said.
Police said the victim was traveling east on Peninsula Boulevard in a 2005 Mercury Sable when the automobile collided with a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan and the driver of the Sable lost control and crashed into a tree. It was unclear if the other motorist had sustained any injuries.
Police said the crash is under investigation but that there appears to be no criminality involved.
