Pinelawn Road in Melville remained closed late Monday afternoon thanks to a downed utility pole, police said.

The road was closed in both directions between Colonial Springs Road and Old East Neck Road for at least seven hours, according to Suffolk County police.

Police said they received a 911 call at 9:29 a.m., reporting the transformer and wire were down, as well. It was not clear how long it would take to fix the pole.

The southbound road was apparently opened to traffic some time after noon but the road was closed again.

The Long Island Power Authority has no reported outages as a result of the incident.

It was not immediately clear what caused the incident.
