2 hospitalized after being bit by pit bulls in Valley Stream, cops say
A man and woman were hospitalized Sunday after police said they were attacked by two pit bulls at a house in Valley Stream.
Nassau County police said the 52-year-old woman was attacked at the home on Hungry Harbor Road and said Fifth Precinct officers responding to a 5:25 p.m. 911 call reporting the attack found her “bleeding heavily” from lacerations to her face, as well as bites on her arms and legs.
A 52-year-old man also suffered bites to both his right hand and foot when he attempted to halt the initial attack, police said.
Both were transported to a hospital by police ambulances.
Police said the two victims do not appear to be related and said the dogs belonged to the male victim's son, but could not clarify further.
The dogs were “contained” by the responding officers and then removed by animal control officers, police said.
Police said the fate of the dogs had not yet been determined Monday.
