Nassau police are investigating after two swastikas were carved into playground equipment at a public park on Friday, the Nassau County Police Department said.
Police were called to the county-owned Wantagh Park around 3 p.m. on Friday when, a Nassau police spokesperson said, a park worker discovered the graffiti.
Officers saw "two swastikas along with a racial slur etched into the playground equipment," which were about six-by-six inches in size, according to a police news release.
The charge associated with the graffiti would be felony criminal mischief because of the value of the equipment that was damaged, according to the department spokesperson.
Police are still investigating the incident.
