Point Lookout Bridge in Lido Beach was closed for nearly a half an hour in the open position Sunday afternoon, causing traffic to back up for miles as state police redirected traffic.

Investigators from the state Department of Transportation went to the scene to look into the malfunction. A state police report said the incident occurred at 1:43 p.m. and that the bridge reopened shortly before 2:15 p.m. as DOT officials continued their investigation.

No further details were immediately available.
