Police: 3 face charges in ATM scam
Three Brooklyn residents were arrested Thursday after Nassau police said they illegally used another person's ATM card to buy money orders at the Manhasset Post Office for a total of $1,580.
Tiana Bovell, 16, of 472 E. 48th St., Apt. D2; Jamal Hill, 23, of 4515 Snyder Ave.; and Shane Hercules, 20, of 43 Linden Blvd., were all charged with second-degree grand larceny and first-degree defraud, and Bovell also was charged with identity theft.
Crimes Against Property Squad detectives said they are investigating whether these three, along with others, were involved in similar cases since 2011 in which regional area banks, including Chase Bank, Bank of America and Wells Fargo Bank, may have lost more than $81,000.
Bovell, Hill and Hercules were to be arraigned Friday in First District Court, Hempstead.
