A bicyclist riding in Baldwin early Saturday morning was struck by a car and is in critical condition, Nassau County police said.

The accident occurred at 1:15 a.m. as the 38-year-old male bicyclist was riding east on Grand Terrace Avenue when he was struck by a 2010 Toyota traveling north on Grand Avenue.

The victim, who was taken to a hospital, suffered serve trauma to his head and body, including multiple fractures, police said.

The car passed all safety inspections and detectives do not expect to charge the driver of the Toyota, a 45-year-old woman, police said.
