Police: Burglar hits Baldwin home
Police are searching for a man with a backpack seen fleeing the scene of a home invasion in Baldwin early Sunday.
An Xbox gaming system, a Sony camera and a camcorder were taken, police said.
Nassau County police said the burglary occurred at a home on Central Avenue at 3:20 a.m. Police said a resident, identified only as a 23-year-old woman, was home alone and asleep in a third-floor bedroom when she was awakened by someone trying to turn the locked doorknob to the room.
She called 911.
Police said the suspect was seen fleeing the home, but a K-9 unit failed to locate him.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
