Stephen Benson, 29, of 298 Bedell St., Freeport, has been charged with two counts of robbery in connection with the robberies of a Chase Bank at 180 Atlantic Ave. on Aug. 28 and Sept. 7, 2010, Nassau County police said. A Freeport man who robbed the same bank twice within 10 days was charged Thursday after a Freeport police officer saw a man matching the robber's description walking on Atlantic Avenue.

Stephen Benson, 29, of 298 Bedell St., robbed the Chase Bank at 180 Atlantic Ave. on Aug. 28 and Sept. 7, Nassau police said in a release.

Each time, a man matching Benson's description presented a note demanding cash, then left the bank heading south across Atlantic Avenue toward Ocean Avenue, police said.

Police did not disclose how much money was taken in each robbery.

Benson is charged with two counts of robbery and will be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Hempstead, police said.
