Police charge man with boating while intoxicated

A 46-year-old Levittown man was arrested and charged with boating while intoxicated after Nassau County police Marine Bureau officers stopped him for operating a boat without navigation lights in Woodcleft Canal in Freeport Sunday.
The stop took place just before 9 p.m., police said.
Thomas P. Heslin, of 11 Cherrytree Lane, was charged with boating while intoxicated and several navigational law violations, police said. He faces arraignment Monday in First District Court in Hempstead.
Police said Marine Bureau officers stopped Heslin as he operated a 2000 Donzi southbound on Woodcleft Canal without navigation lights at 8:55 p.m. Sunday. A subsequent investigation determined Heslin was intoxicated, police said.
