A lockdown at Garden City High School was lifted Tuesday morning after police investigated a bomb threat.

The threat was found in graffiti in a bathroom, Lt. Joseph Lennon of the Garden City Police Department said.

School officials called police immediately after discovering the message, and the building was closed at about 9 a.m.

A message on the district website Tuesday said the high school "has been placed on lockdown and lockout since 9:40 a.m. due to police activity."

"There are no intruders in the building and the situation is under control," the message said.

The lockdown was lifted at about 11 a.m., students were told in an announcement.

Police and arson investigators were still searching the school at about 10:45 a.m., but apparently had not found anything, Lennon said.
