An Island Park man who went to pick up his paycheck from a former employer faces menacing charges after waving a pellet gun Thursday at employees of the company, a New Hyde Park heating and cooling firm, Nassau County police said.

Kevin Fortin, 25, of 4071 Broadway, arrived at the offices of AirNow at 190 Atlantic Ave., about 6:15 p.m. to get his final paycheck, police said. But Fortin, recently fired from the company, was denied his check because he did not return work uniforms, police said.

"As Fortin was exiting the location, he displayed a handgun, threatening employees. No injuries were reported," the Third Squad said in a news release.

Police arrested Fortin later at his home, where they also recovered a pellet gun, the release said.

Fortin is charged with menacing and possession of a dangerous weapon. He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.
