DNA evidence from bloody tissue at a crime scene led police to a suspect in a 2009 robbery, Nassau County police said Friday.

Armando Zeron Zarate, 25, of Fenimore Avenue in Uniondale, was arrested Thursday and charged with second-degree burglary in connection with the theft on Oct. 30, 2009.

Police said that Zarate opened the front window of a home on State Street in New Cassel, took property off the kitchen table and fled -- apparently getting blood on a tissue on that table. Police said DNA analysis of the blood matched it to Zarate, whose sample was found in the New York State DNA Index System.

Zarate was arrested Thursday at his job in Westbury, police said.

He was scheduled for arraignment Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.
