A deliveryman for Domino's Pizza was robbed by three men, one carrying a black handgun, as he exited his car early Thursday during a delivery on Franklyn Square in Freeport, Nassau County police said.

The robbery occurred at 1:10 a.m. The robbers stole $38 in cash and a cellphone.

Police said the 35-year-old driver was on the block after a delivery call -- and said one of the robbers "appeared to be the person accepting the delivery." But, then two other men approached the victim and, police said, one of the robbers struck the deliveryman in the head with the handgun.

The robbers also forced the victim to the ground before fleeing the scene, police said.

Police said the deliveryman suffered a contusion during the assault and robbery, but refused medical attention.

Police ask anyone with information about the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
