Police: Driver had loaded pistol
Officers responding to a 911 call about a suspicious person carrying a handgun stopped a 2002 Cadillac Wednesday morning in Roosevelt and arrested the driver on charges of possession of a loaded pistol, police said.
The incident occurred on Manhattan Street at 11:11 a.m.
Nassau County police said Jerry Beatty, 29, of 14 Scherer Place, Roosevelt, was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon.
He is scheduled for arraignment Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead.
Police said the officers who stopped Beatty were responding to a 911 call. No one was injured in the incident.
