A police officer in Baldwin suffered minor injuries Wednesday afternoon when the driver he was trying to question sped away and struck him with his car, Nassau County police said.

The confrontation happened at Stanton Avenue and Wilson Street at about 1:15 p.m. as the officer was going to speak to the driver.

One person is in custody in the case.

Details of the officer's injuries and charges, if any, against the suspect weren't immediately released.
