A Massapequa man was arrested on a drunken-driving charge Friday night after he rear-ended a police officer's vehicle, leaving the officer with minor injuries, Nassau County police said.

Thomas Tighe, 48, slammed his 2012 Lincoln MKT sport utility vehicle into the back of a Seventh Precinct officer's car about 7:55 p.m. at the intersection of Hicksville and Merrick roads in Massapequa.

Assisting officers arrived and it was determined that Tighe, of 15 Fairwater Ave., was intoxicated, police said.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated and will be arraigned Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead, police said.

The officer sustained neck and back pain and was taken to a hospital where she was treated and released, police said.
