Fifth Squad detectives are searching for a man who robbed a woman at gunpoint Tuesday as she returned to her Elmont home, Nassau County police said.

Detectives said the woman, 51, was returning to her home on Hill Avenue at about 7:55 p.m. when a man with a handgun approached her.

He ordered her inside the home, where he demanded money, police said.

The two then went to a bedroom where the suspect took an unspecified amount of money from a safe.

The man then left in an unknown direction. Police said the woman reported no injuries.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
