A Freeport man has been charged with stabbing a 62-year-old man in the abdomen during a confrontation Friday night at an area bar, Nassau police said.

Iban Hernandez, 33, is charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon.

Police said Hernandez became involved in an argument with the victim at the El Cibao Bar on South Main Street in Freeport.

The confrontation escalated and Hernandez allegedly stabbed the victim with a knife, officials said. Police later recovered the weapon.

Hernandez was arrested without incident. The unidentified victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital.

Hernandez was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead Saturday.
