A woman cleaning out her garage in Hicksville on Tuesday reported finding what appeared to be a live hand grenade -- and police said Arson / Bomb Squad officers are on the scene assessing the situation.

Nassau County police said an area around the home on Cottage Boulevard has cordoned off, as officers attempt to determine if the grenade is live.

Police said the find was reported in a 911 call at 11:15 a.m.

According to police, the woman said she found the grenade while cleaning out the garage Tuesday morning.

The woman's identity has not been released.
