A man wearing a gray bucket hat, red T-shirt, beige cargo shorts, black-and-white sandals and armed with a black handgun robbed a 76 gas station in Elmont on Monday night, taking cash before fleeing on foot, Nassau County police said.

The armed robbery took place at the station on Linden Boulevard, near the Queens border, at about 8:45 p.m.

No customers were present and, police said, the attendant was not injured.

It was not clear how much money was taken.

Police said the suspect is believed to be in his 20s, about 5-foot-10 with a thin build.

Police ask anyone with information about the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
