Police: Gunman sought in Elmont gas station robbery

Police are searching for a gunman who robbed a gas station in Elmont late Tuesday, stealing an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing on foot.
The robbery occurred at 11:20 p.m. at the Citgo station on Hempstead Turnpike, Nassau County police said. One employee was working at the time but was not injured.
There were no customers present, police said.
Police said the gunman is believed to be in his 20s, about 5-foot-5 or 5-foot-6, and was wearing a white bucket hat with white and green print, a dark-colored short-sleeve T-shirt, light-colored jeans and black-and-white sneakers.
He had a black handgun.
Police ask anyone with information about the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
