Police ID Hempstead slaying victim
The victim of a homicide Wednesday evening in Hempstead has been identified as a resident of the community.
Nassau County police detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of James Warren, 29, police said Thursday in a news release.
Hempstead police responded to a shots fired call at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the rear of 600 Fulton Ave. and found Warren "lying on the sidewalk," police said in a Thursday morning news release.
Warren was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow where he was pronounced dead less than an hour later, police said.
