Police confirmed Sunday the identity of the 28-year-old man shot to death in Long Beach as Tyrenzo Brown, 28, of Long Beach.
Police responded to 5 Birch Court about 12:55 a.m. Saturday and found Brown with a gunshot wound. Brown was taken to a hospital, which police did not identify, where he was pronounced dead.
Friends and family said Saturday that Brown's shooting was one of several that have occurred since January around the housing complex, which is next door to a police station and city court.
A Nassau County Police Department spokeswoman said Sunday the investigation was continuing.
