Suffolk County police have identified the motorcyclist who died Monday night after he apparently lost control of his bike and crashed into an Amityville building.

Jorge Fernandez, 24, of Copiague, was driving a 2003 Kawasaki east on Dixon Avenue at about 8 p.m. when the bike left the road and hit a building at 175 Dixon Ave., police said.

Fernandez was pronounced dead at the scene by a forensic investigator from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.

The motorcycle has been impounded for a safety inspection. The investigation is continuing.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers, 800-220-8477, or the First Squad, 631-854-8152. All calls will be kept confidential.
