Police investigate attempted abduction of girl in Roosevelt
Nassau County police are investigating a report that someone tried to abduct an elementary school student as she walked to school Thursday morning in Roosevelt.
Police said a girl was walking at about 7:30 a.m. on the corner of Washington Avenue and Rose Avenue when a black Nissan Altima pulled up and someone in it asked her to get into the car. The location was about two blocks from Washington Rose Elementary School in the Roosevelt Union Free School District.
The girl ran toward school grounds and the car drove off, police said.
Police said the girl appeared to be walking alone when the car approached her.
