Police investigate minor explosions that damaged vehicles

Police are investigating whether two minor explosions that damaged vehicles over a four-day period are related.
No one was injured in the explosions, which occurred Saturday in Oceanside and Wednesday in Island Park, Nassau County police said in a news release.
The Island Park explosion happened at 11:40 p.m. on Jefferson Avenue, police said, while the Oceanside explosion occurred at about 9:30 p.m. on Moore Avenue, police said.
"Both vehicles sustained moderate damage consistent with an explosion," police said in the release. "Arson/Bomb Squad is investigating and exploring possible links between the two incidents."
Anyone with information about either explosion is urged to anonymously call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
