Someone fired several shots into the outside walls of a Roosevelt house early Sunday morning, and Nassau Police are investigating the incident as a case of reckless endangerment.

First Squad detectives said the shots were fired at 1:50 a.m. at a Spring Street house.

Two men, ages 26 and 32, were in the house when the younger man heard someone knocking at the door, and the shots were fired five minutes later, police said. "The investigation discovered several bullet holes in the outside walls of the home," the police said in a Monday news release.

The police said the shots activated the county's gunfire detection system, ShotSpotter, which is intended to give police dispatchers precise gunshot locations.

Detectives ask anyone with information about this crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
