Police: Lake Success traffic stop yields marijuana bust

A Merrick driver pulled over for talking on his cell phone Thursday on the Northern State Parkway in Lake Success faces a misdemeanor drug charge after he was allegedly found to have several ounces of marijuana, State Police said.
Ittai Azoulay, 26, of 1795 Alice St., was driving a gray Honda east on the parkway near Exit 29, Roslyn Road, at about 9:45 p.m. when Trooper Evan Dick saw him using his cell phone, police said.
While talking to the driver, the trooper said he smelled marijuana. Azoulay said he had a small amount of marijuana in his pocket and more in the trunk, according to police. Police said five ounces of marijuana was found in Azoulay's pocket and another two ounces in the trunk.
Azoulay is charged with criminal possession of marijuana and several traffic violations, police said.
Arraignment information at First District Court in Hempstead was not immediately available.
