A Long Beach woman who smashed her car Thursday in an accident on the Loop Parkway was driving drunk, State Police said.

A trooper was dispatched to the eastbound Loop Parkway, east of Lido Boulevard in Lido Beach, at about 9:15 p.m. on the report of a two-vehicle accident, according to a news release.

After arriving at the scene, the trooper detected an odor of alcohol on Stephanie O'Connor, 21, who was driving a red Honda Accord, the release said.

O'Connor failed sobriety tests and was arrested, police said. She also produced a breath-analyzer reading of 0.16 percent, police said.

She is charged with driving while intoxicated and traffic violations.

Her arraignment information in First District Court in Nassau County was not immediately available.
