Nassau police are asking the public to help catch two men who used a pellet gun to rob a gas station attendant in Hempstead this morning.

The two men walked into Star Gas Station at 699 Fulton Ave. at about 5 a.m. and demanded money from the 38-year-old attendant, police said.

"One subject was armed with a pellet gun and shot the victim in both legs," police said in a news release.

The victim, whom police did not name, was taken to a hospital and treated for injuries police described as not life-threatening.

The robbers escaped with an undetermined amount of cash, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain anonymous.
