A Wantagh woman has been charged with stealing thousands of dollars while working at Macy's in East Massapequa's Sunrise Mall, Nassau County police said.

Deanna Davis, 47, of Jones Avenue, is charged with third-degree grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records.

Police said Davis, an office associate at Macy's, stole $17,560 from the store's cash vault. The thefts, police said, began June 6 and continued until her arrest on Friday.

In an attempt to conceal her crimes, Davis allegedly falsified Macy's business records. The thefts were uncovered after an internal investigation by the department store, police said.

Davis will be arraigned Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead.
