Two men, dressed in "all black," robbed a U.S. Postal Service mail carrier on a Hempstead street Monday night, stealing his personal property after pulling his postal mailbag off his shoulder, police said.

Nassau County police are searching for the two suspects -- and are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.

Police said the robbery occurred near Booth Street and Long Beach Road at about 7:10 p.m.

The victim, identified only as a 38-year-old man, was approached from behind by the pair, who police said "grabbed his U.S. Postal mail bag and pulled it off his shoulder." The two then "searched through the bag" and stole his property, according to police.

Police said the pair left the bag behind when they fled.

No one was injured.
