A man was killed early Sunday after his vehicle struck a utility pole in Oceanside, Nassau County police said.

Police said the 25-year-old man was driving a 2005 Toyota west on Atlantic Avenue near Brower Avenue at 3 a.m. when his vehicle hit a curb and struck a utility pole.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 6 a.m., police said.

His name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin, and his vehicle was impounded for brake and safety checks. Police said there was no apparent criminality in this case.
