Police: Man assaulted cops in North Lawrence

At about 7:30 p.m. Thursday, police said, Towns struggled with arresting officers, falling to the ground. As he was being placed in the rear of a patrol car, Towns kicked and shoved officers, injuring two of them, according to police.
One officer suffered a sprained wrist, a shoulder and neck injury and was bitten on the hand, police said. The other officer suffered a sprained wrist, shoulder and minor injuries to his arm and leg, police said.
Towns was charged with two counts of second-degree assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct in First District Court in Hempstead.
