A Hempstead man burglarized a restaurant early Wednesday, entering the Franklin Square eatery through a basement window, Nassau County police said.
Rimel Myers, 26, of 83 Front St., was arrested after running toward a property adjoining the Plattduetsche Park Restaurant at about 2:15 a.m., police said.
When police responded to a call for a burglary in progress at the restaurant at 1132 Hempstead Tpke., they saw a man inside who then exited through a kitchen window, according to a news release.
The suspect ran next door, and after a brief search of the area, officers arrested Myers.
Officers said they recovered a computer bag containing a digital camera, keys, assorted jewelry, a projector, an iPod touch, a laptop, assorted computer cables and a checkbook.
Police said in the release it was determined that Myers entered the restaurant "by breaking a basement window,"
Myers is charged with third-degree burglary and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
