Nassau County Police officers in plainclothes arrested a man they said dropped a loaded .357 revolver while running away from them Friday night in Franklin Square.

Detectives said Yevaughn Roye, 18, and two companions were observed "acting suspiciously" on Friday shortly before midnight near the Pathmark Shopping Center parking lot on Franklin Avenue.

Detectives did not elaborate on their suspicions, but said the three men were stopped for questioning. While Roye's companions, 22 and 20, were questioned, he ran and dropped the gun in the parking lot, police said.

Roye was charged with criminal possession of a firearm and was scheduled to be arraigned Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead.
