Police: Man exposed himself in parking lot
A Massapequa man was arrested Thursday afternoon after he exposed himself to a woman in a parking lot in Massapequa after telling her she had a spider on her foot, police said.
Nassau County police said the son of the victim detained Gary Roven for responding officers. Roven, who lives on Merrick Road, was charged with third-degree sexual abuse and public lewdness, they said.
Police said Roven, 58, approached the woman, 45, at the state Department of Motor Vehicles complex on Carmans Road at 3:55 p.m. and told her she had a spider on her foot, offering to help remove it.
After the woman kicked off her shoe, Roven bent down, grabbed the woman's foot, moved his hand along her leg and exposed himself, police said.
Then woman ran off, screaming, police said. Her son tracked down Roven in the parking lot and held him for police.
Roven is scheduled for arraignment June 8 in First District Court in Hempstead.
