Police: Man found hiding with robbery cash
An Amityville man faces charges of robbing a Freeport bank Tuesday after police found him hiding in a garage with the cash taken from the heist, Nassau County police said.
The Robbery Squad said Joshua Samlal, 23, of 10 Dixon Ave., handed a demand note to a teller at the Bank of America at 189 W. Merrick Rd. at about 2:19 p.m.
After getting an undisclosed amount of cash from the teller, Samlal ran north across Merrick Road, police said.
Freeport Police found Samlal, with the cash, hiding in a garage on Bergen Avenue.
Eight employees and two customers were in the bank at the time of the robbery. No injuries were reported, police said.
Samlal is scheduled to be arraigned on a charge of third-degree robbery Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead, police said.
