Police: Man had fake credit cards, license
A Queens man was arrested Monday night after he tried to purchase a phone card at a Walmart in Westbury using a forged American Express card and a fake Connecticut driver's license, police said.
Scott E. Bellamy, 46, of 168-18 Linden Blvd., was located by Nassau County police Narcotics / Vice Bureau detectives a short time after he fled the store on Old Country Road.
Police said the incident occurred at 7:49 p.m. and said detectives arrested Bellamy a short time later. Bellamy was also found to be in possession of a forged credit card.
Police said Bellamy attempted to purchase a phone card worth $45 at the Walmart using the forged American Express card and the license, but then fled -- leaving the items behind in the store.
Bellamy faces three counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument and is scheduled for arraignment Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
