Police: Man had gun in waistband
Officers said they noticed a man shifting a gun in his waistband as he walked along a street Thursday evening in Roosevelt.
They confronted him, found a loaded semiautomatic .380-caliber pistol and arrested him, police said.
Allen Wright, 20, of Bainbridge Street in Roosevelt, is charged with second-degree and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is scheduled for arraignment Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.
Nassau County police said at 6:16 p.m. Thursday, First Precinct officers saw Wright walking east on Stevens Street near Underhill Avenue. The officers saw the gun and got out of their patrol car to confront Wright, recovering the weapon, police said.
