A man posing as a cleaner pulled a handgun Tuesday at a Carle Place maternity shop, then bound two employees and made off with an unspecified amount of cash, Nassau County police said.
Major Case Bureau detectives said a man wearing a bright green work vest and using a broom entered Destination Maternity at 120 Glen Cove Rd. at about 8:30 p.m.
Wearing a mask and displaying a handgun, he ordered two employees, both women, to open the cash register and the safe, according to a news release.
He then forced them into the back of the store and bound their hands behind their backs with plastic zip ties, the release said.
After taking cash from the register and safe, he fled in an unknown direction, police said.
Neither woman was hurt; they were able to free themselves and call 911, police said.
The suspect is described as being about 6 feet tall with a thin build and wearing dark-colored clothing.
Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477. All calls will remain confidential.
