Police: Man robbed IHOP, other eatery
Come hungry, leave happy?
Well, it's not certain if Daniel Bliss arrived hungry at the IHOP on Sunrise Highway in Massapequa Park Monday night. But it's likely he didn't end his night happily after police arrested him and charged him with burglarizing two businesses, including that IHOP.
Nassau County police said Bliss, 48, of Veterans Highway, Hauppauge, was arrested a short time after the second burglary, at Pomodorino Restaurant on Merrick Road in Seaford.
He was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, three counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument and third-degree unauthorized use of a vehicle.
He was scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
Police said the first burglary, at the IHOP, was at about 10:45 p.m. Monday, the second at Pomodorino at about 12:50 a.m. Tuesday.
Police said officers responded to Pomodorino after a 911 call reported that Bliss was inside the restaurant, which was closed. Police said Bliss ran away. He had earlier fled the IHOP in what police described as a light-colored Lexus truck. Police said images of the vehicle were captured on a surveillance video.
Bliss took cash from the IHOP, police said. It was not clear what he is accused of stealing from Pomodorino. He had three forged checks when he was arrested, police said.
