The suspect, described as about 6 feet tall with a medium build, wearing a black pea coat and a tan hat with a brim, walked into the Bank of America on Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown Feb. 9 and slipped the demand note to a teller, police said. Credit: NCPD

A man walked into the Bank of America branch on Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown Wednesday, handed a teller a note announcing a robbery, was handed cash and fled, police said.

At 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, the man, described as about 6-feet tall with a medium build, wearing a black pea coat and a tan hat with a brim, walked into the Bank of America and slipped the demand note to a teller, police said.

Once he got his money, police said, he fled through a rear door and escaped.

There were five employees and two customers in the bank at the time it was robbed. No one was injured.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
