Police: Man's body found in Hempstead park

Police are investigating the discovery of a man's body in Kennedy Memorial Park in Hempstead early Saturday morning.
There appeared to be stab wounds on the body, which was found at 335 Greenwich St., at Oak Street, Nassau County police said. Police said the man suffered "severe trauma to the neck and head causing fatal wounds."
An anonymous caller alerted police about 1 a.m., Hempstead Village Police Sgt. Mark Kirichenko said.
The man was not identified, Kirichenko said.
The case has been turned over to Nassau County homicide detectives. The cause of death is pending a Nassau County medical examiner's report, police said.
Police ask anyone with information about the death to contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
