Nassau County police arrested a Massapequa man Friday on charges he fired a .380-caliber handgun into a stop sign at the intersection of Bayview and Baldwin avenues in Massapequa.

Christopher Soesman, 19, fired a weapon that put a hole in the stop sign about 12:50 p.m. Police received a call about a man shooting from his car near Bayview and Hampton Boulevard. A short time later, police found Soesman in the parking lot of a local convenience store.

There were no injuries, police said.

Police charged Soesman with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and possession of a dangerous weapon. He was arraigned Friday in First District Court in Hempstead and taken to Nassau County Correctional Center after he failed to post $15,000 cash bail.
